Who is Jesus Christ

True God
Besides believing that Christ is “The only begotten Son of the Father,” We also believe that He is God who was manifested in the flesh by a great mystery (1Timothy 3:16), i.e. God, who is unseen, incarnated to be seen and dwelt among us. Christ is true God, having all the attributes of divinity, in contrary to those who were called gods (Psalms 96:4, 5; Exodus 7:1; 4:15). He is everlasting Creator, Almighty, Omnipresent, unlimited, testing the hearts and minds, Forgiver of sins…etc. (Rom 9:5; John 1:1; Timothy 3:16; Acts 20:28; Revelation 1:8, 11, 17). He proved His divinity through His miracles and wonders which declared His authority over man (Matthew 15:29-31; Mark 7:32-35; 8:21-25; 1:42, 2:11; 5:25-34; 3:1-6), animals (Luke 5:1-11; Matthew 17:24-27), plants (Matthew 21:18, 19), nature (Matthew 14:25; Mark 4:39), material (Matthew 14:17; 15:32-37; John 2:1-11), and even demons (Mark 1:27, 34, 24; 3:11; 5:4; 7:24-30). He created from dust (John 9:1-7) and gave life to the dead (Mark 5:22-42; Luke 7:11-15; John 11:1-48; John 5:24, 25, 28). He, Himself rose from the dead by His own power, after three days, exactly as he foretold His disciples (Matthew 16:21; 17:22, 23; 20:17-19). He proves His divinity by declaring that His divinity is equal to the Father. For example, He said, “I and My Father are one” (John 10:30); “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9); “I am in the Father, and the Father in Me” (John 14:10); and “That all should honor the Son just a they honor the Father” (John 5:23). Indeed, He is God the Almighty and eternal (Revelation 1:8), who strengthen and supported us “For without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).
Infallible and Sinless
No one is infallible, including the prophets, but only God (1Kings 8:46; Job 15:14-16; Psalms 14:1-3). St. Paul stated that, “There is none righteous, no, not one… There is none who does good, no, not one” (Rom 3:10-12), and St. John Says, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1John 1:8). Christ alone was sinless; and He said to the angry Jews, “Which of you convicts Me of Sin?” (John 8:46). They failed to entangle Him in His talk (Matthew 22:15; Mark 12:13) because His accusing words to them (John 8:37-47). About His crucifixion, He said, “The ruler of this world (satan) is coming, and he has nothing in Me” (John 14:30). Therefore St. Peter, when he talked about Him, said, “…Who committed no sin, nor was guile in His mouth” (1Peter 2:22); and St. Paul describes Him by saying, “…Who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens” (Heb 7:26). No wonder, for the Archangel Gabriel announced Virgin Mary saying, “That Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:35).
The King
He was born as a King, from the tribe of Judah, descending from King David and was born in the same city of his birth, Bethlehem (Matthew 2:1-6). As a King, He received the gift of Gold from the wise men (Matthew 2:11). Christ Himself approved that He is a King, and that He was born to reign (John 18:37). But His kingdom is not an earthly one, limited by a time. About His everlasting kingdom, Daniel the prophet prophesied saying, “His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed” (Dan 7:14); and the Archangel Gabriel said to the Virgin Mary, “You will conceive in your womb and bring forth a child… He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end” (Luke 1:31-33). His kingdom is a heavenly and spiritual one (John 18:33-37).
The Savior and Redeemer
We deserved death because we sinned; fo rthe wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Then Christ, who did not commit sin and not deserving death, came to die on behalf of the sinners who are under the condemnation of death (Romans 5:12), fulfilling Isaiah’s prophesy (Isa 53:6). He died on the cross to redeem us by His death. He is the Savior who saved us by shedding His blood on the cross on our behalf, the Just died for our sins to save us from eternal death.
The Forgiver of Sins
The Holy Bible stated that only God is the Forgiver of sins (Exodus 34:6, 7; Isaiah 43:25; Mark 2:7). Christ practiced His right to forgive sins through His authority, and He proved this authority, for example, by healing the lame (Matthew 9:1-18; Mark 2:1-12; Luke 5:17-26). He also forgave the sinful woman at Simon’s house, Proving His authority by revealing the hidden thoughts into Simon’s mind (Luke 7:36-50).
The Just Judge
Christ is coming again in His glory for judgment (Matthew 16:27; 25:31-46; 2Corinthians 5:10). The coming of Christ, the just Judge, is evident in the book of Revelation, where He says, “I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work” (Rev 22:12). General resurrection will take place at His second coming (John 5:28, 29). He, Himself declared this fact, many times, in His speeches (Matthew 16:27; 25:31-46; Mark 13:26, 27), and through His teachings (Matthew 13:40-42). For example, He says clearly, “For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son… For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man” (John 5:22-29)
